Lost Cell Phone (mild rant)

Tonight I lost my cell phone. I NEVER lose my cellphone. misplace it, yes. LOSE it, no. It's usually under my bed. Not this time. My only confidence is in the fact that it's fully charged, If I keep calling, it, eventually SOMEONE will answer, right???

Technology addiction: I seriously feel loss and anxiety over this. This to me shows that I'm way to attached to material possessions and addicted to technology. Why on WHY did I have to throw it in my bag instead of shoving it in my pocket? Alright, that's all for tonight as I can't properly focus.

Handmade

A word about handmade crafts. THEY ROCK! I actually bought a whole bunch as Christmas presents for my roommates. They're each getting three of the same handmade things from ETSY.com, just in different color/scents to fit their personalities. I'm so excited! :D

What also excites me is handmade soap, without all those nasty unpronounceable chemicals in them. I bought a sample pack from a vendor, and they are ADDICTING! The one I'm using now smells vanilla and creamy, and the pretty smell lasts for hours! I don't think that right now I'll mention sellers, as I simply want to emphasize the merits of buying handmade instead of mass-produced. Someday, when I'm old and gray (or perhaps I just have some free time) I plan on selling my knitting or other creations on etsy, or a similar site. If you've never tried handmade soap, and instead only used the store-bought kind, I encourage you to try some. Many are reasonably priced, and you can rest assured knowing you're not placing some dangerous, drying chemicals next to your precious skin. But a small warning: IT IS ADDICTING! Also, you'll be tempted to make some for yourself. This is, of course, my next big project. It probably won't happen very soon, but I'll keep you updated.

Alarm Clock Blues and Bad Habits too

Tuesdays I work ALL day... both at a job and then I go to class. The problem I have is waking up with the alarm clock. Unfortunately, I've become skilled at the martial art of... "press-the-snooze-button-and-roll-over-without-waking-up." My second problem is my TOO WONDERFUL work manager. He is so relaxed, I often don't worry about getting to work on time... and it's a terrible habit that I need to get rid of, fast! Anyone else ever have these little problems? I keep telling myself that since I'm about to be "all grown up," I'd better get my head on straight very soon. *sigh* What a drag, to be grown up! Tonight I'll post about handmade soap and etsy.com.

Today was a Monday. Reminds me of Office Space... "Sounds like somebody has a case of the MONDAYS!"

Mondays are never terribly interesting for me, and I spent today preparing for a presentation for one of my classes. Right now I have a bunch of projects to do, and one thing I struggle with is procrastination. When I have so many things on my plate, I run around like a chicken with my head cut off, and get NOTHING really done. It's quite sad. But I am developing a strategy that works for me. I'm a big list person, and I like to make them, but completing them is the hard part. What I've learned to do is break the goals down into small parts, and complete each in exactly fifteen minutes. The fifteen minute rule comes from FlyLady.

Try it! you CAN do anything in fifteen minutes!

Presents, FlyLady, and Peace of Mind

For about the past month and a half, I have been actively planning and purchasing Christmas presents. Everyone laughed at how early I'd started, but when you are all running around to stand on 2 hour lines to buy a teddy-bear for your niece Betty-Sue, I'll be relaxing. Alright, not true. I'll be pulling all-nighters to study for my Final Exams. Regardless, I really want to encourage others about starting to plan for Christmas early. You already know who you need to purchase gifts for, and it often helps to keep a notepad around with you, to write down when they say "Gee, I really think that the new (Insert cool gadget here) is amazing!" Won't they be surprised to see it under the Christmas tree?

Right now, Linens n' Things is going out of business, and having extreme mark downs. Take advantage of these type of things, and don't let the early date deter you from organizing yourself.

Lately I've become familiar with FlyLady. Here she is:For those of you who don't know her, definitely take a few minutes to go check her out here. More on her in the future, but basically through using her *free!* system (no I'm not affiliated or being paid.) I have found myself to be changing into a neater, more organized, and more relaxed student. I'm nowhere near perfect, as this is a process, but I'm 100% happy with how I've been doing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Is that an oxymoron?

As an apartment-dwelling student a semester and a half away from the terrifying jaws of the "Real World," I was speaking to a friend the other day, raving about a tasty noodles-and-sauce dinner I made myself. She gasped, saying "Oh no, you're slowly becoming domesticated! Don't tell me you CLEAN, too...?" Conceding to her that indeed this was the case with me, we laughed together about the fact that no matter how much we wanted to ignore it, real world responsibility is just around the corner for a college Senior. This is my blog. Certainly not my first attempt at blogging, in fact I believe it is about the third. In any case, I struggle to stick with blogging, worrying that I won't be interesting, or will simply repeat what others can tell you. So this time, I'm not going to try as hard. I will rest upon the fact that if I find it interesting, probably someone else out there in cyberspace will, too.

I am crafty (NOT sly... more like knitting), "green," musical, stubborn, loving, lazy, restless, curious, and most important in my life, Christian. All these things will come out in my blog, as I try to be honest as my own life twists and turns.

Fall is my favorite season of the year, and as I watch it come to an end, here is a beautiful picture for you to admire:
